Depending on who you ask, this whole continent is full of strange somethings.

You're out at the springs, I take it? What happened? Are you okay?

I'm fine, but all the springs suddenly cooled down. That shouldn't be possible, should it?

Huh? Um . . . n-no, I don't . . . I don't think so. They're heated by natural thermal activity, right? That's not something that just spontaneously shuts off. Or can be shut off, for that matter.

Is it just the spring you're in, or are they all doing that?

You . . . might want to head back to the ship, Sara. You and everyone. I don't know how to explain it - not sure I'd be wholly right if I tried - but the springs cooling down is . . . well, it can't be a good sign. Either someone's cast some really powerful magic, or they've been deep underground messing with things they shouldn't have. Really . . . big things.

Right. I just wonder what it is...

I'm no geology expert - that was my creation-mate, Beachcomber - but I vaguely remember he and I talking about that once, about where naturally hot water comes from. Surface water is heated by certain activities deep underground, natural processes. Trying to affect them would be like . . . trying to alter a storm that's covering half of Reial or something.

And . . . I could be way off-target or something. I . . .
